Big WHY behind Meditation

You know...I've been wondering the same thing for a long time about why I should meditate.

Meditation was not something I incorporated in my everyday life until recently. Each time I would seek guidance throughout the years, I would repeatedly be asked if I meditated or included meditation in my daily practice. I initially would feel guilty and would say no. Or say I TRY to. It just wasn’t on my radar or list of important things to do in my life. Of course after that, I would start meditating in some way and then stop again.

Just the word "meditate" just gave off this negative feeling that I would have to sit still for a long time. Just the thought of keeping still did not appeal to me. Sure, in general, people know that meditation is good for you, and it is a good practice to incorporate in your life.

It helps you relax and relieve stress among other things.

After self-reflecting, I don't believe I understood the magnitude of meditating.

Not really.

Also, I didn't feel like I found the right meditation for me.

It wasn't until I took "The M Word" quest on Mindvalley with Emily Fletcher, the founder of Ziva Meditation, when I understood the importance.

It really hit home.

Emily Fletcher said, " We meditate to get good at LIFE".

Wow.

Life...

Great way to get anyone's attention.

Now that's something I want to get better at.

That is something everyone can get better at.

Everyone has a life and has some area in their life that can be taken to the next level.

I don't know about you, but I want to be able to think on my feet faster and creatively problem-solve with ease when I need it the most for work. Work can be challenging, so any bit of help to get me closer to expert level is welcomed.

I also want to be a better version of myself, so I can perform better in anything I do.

Not just things surrounding work.

Emily even addresses the topic of having daily meditation. She mentions how Oprah makes time for mediation, and we know she is a busy lady!

Final Thoughts

I, myself, am still relatively new to including consistent meditation practice in my everyday life. Sometimes it is a matter of making sure I take advantage of every minute that I have of the day on things that bring value to my life.

Or being able to organize my time in the morning to include my meditation before I head out for the day.

If you are struggling with incorporating meditation into your life, hopefully, this post will help re-ignite your motivation to meditate.

So, what is your big WHY for meditating?
